Dear Prayer Partners,
Over the past two months we have seen God working in the lives of the people here
and in our own lives.
In the beginning of March, Jon and Rebecca Allinson were able to visit for a few days to
take care of a few things that they needed to here in the city. While they were here the
church was able to have a time of fellowship with them. As a church we miss our pastor
but are so thankful for the time that we get to cover for them. After they headed
back to the states, we then got back to ministry life. At the end of the month, we had a
ladies and men’s meeting. Katye was able to do a craft with the ladies and then was
able to have a time of sharing from the Bible. Josh had a few men over and they were
able to have a carne asada and share time in God’s Word. The last Friday of every
month we started a youth meeting; with March being the first one, we hosted the teens
at our house. This special meeting gives the teens a chance to fellowship with each
other and to hear teaching specific for their lives.
We started April with Easter Sunday; it’s very different here celebrating in Mexico. For
many of the people this holiday is very religious and focused on the crucifixion. We were
able to see the Catholic Church here in our colonia walking through the streets carrying
crosses. The people also take this time to go away on vacation, causing church
attendance to be low in most churches in the city. Praise the Lord that each week we
continue to see visitors attend, with a few coming back the following weeks. On
Thursday April 30 Mexico celebrates “kids’ day” much like Mothers or Father’s Day. The
church uses this special day as an outreach into our community. We have games, a
snack and the Gospel is given to all the kids and their families. This year the church will
be having the event on Saturday May 2nd . Please pray for us as we prepare for the day
and for souls to be saved as a result
Exciting ministry update:
When God called us to Mexico, we knew that He wanted us to plant a church in an area
of Mexico city called Lomas Verdes. Over the past few months, He has made it clear
that this year is when that church plant will take place. We have been able to spend
some time in the area and have seen God opening doors for us as we prepare. Please
continue to pray for us as we follow God’s leading. The first service of Abundant Life
Baptist Church will be on November 8. Leading up to this date, we have an opportunity
of a mission trip two weeks before the first service to help pass out flyers. If you’re
interested in the mission trip please follow this link for more details. Please continue
to pray for us as we follow God’s leading and prepare for this exciting opportunity.
