November/December 2024

Dear Prayer Partners,

We are praising God for how He has blessed us in adjusting to a new culture. The past
few months have passed very quickly as we find ourselves busy with learning the
language and ministry at the church.

November brought many opportunities to participate in events at the church. The first
Saturday the church hosted a youth rally for different churches. We had over fifty people
come and spend the day with preaching, outreach into the community, and games. We
were also able to be a part of the missions conference, with missionaries from Mexico
going to other parts of the world. The week was a blessing getting to know and
fellowship with the church people and seeing their hearts for people around the world
who have never heard the gospel. Thanksgiving was a restful day for us spent with the
Allinson family. Rebecca and Katye made a wonderful meal, and we spent the day
playing games and talking to family in the States.

In December we were able to spend a day with the church going to visit the pyramids in
Mexico City before attending a Christmas cantata put on by a children’s home that they
support. The children’s home has around thirty children and we were able to take gifts
to them. We had planned to be in Mexico for Christmas, but an unexpected family
emergency came up and we had to make a trip back to the States. Since we came back,
it provided the opportunity to spend time with family, and to deal with our visas all in one
trip. We were able to submit the requirements needed for our visas and are waiting to
hear back about when our appointment will be.

Language classes are going well, and our teachers are very pleased with the progress
we’re making. We had a cultural field trip to Castillo de Chapultepec and had some
wonderful authentic Mexican food. Our teachers even took us to a gluten-free bakery
where we found authentic Mexican sweet bread!

Praises

  • We’ve been able to be more involved in the ministries at church.
  • Language classes have been going well and we’re seeing a lot of progress.
  • An unexpected trip to the states allowed us to spend time with family.

Prayer

  • We would receive the short-term visas.
  • We would continue to make progress in the language.

Josh and Katye
