Dear Prayer Partners,
As we finished up our deputation journey, we looked back on how far the Lord has brought us! We’ve traveled over 115,000 miles in our car through most of the eastern and southern states. God truly blessed us with safety, and we had little to no problems with our car. Our support is now at 97% and we’re praising God for His continual blessing.
In September, we finished our last five meetings in four different states. We started the month in KS before traveling to spend a few days with Katye’s family before heading to our next meeting in OK. From there we traveled to FL where we could see some dear friends of ours at their church. Our last meeting was helping Josh’s sister and brother-in-law with their church plant in AL. Before attending the first church service, we spent a week with them inviting people to the grand opening Sunday! During this week we also sold our car. Josh’s parents and sister came down to be a part of the first service at the church plant and we were able to spend some time with them before we said goodbye and drove to the TX border.
The first week of October we met at the border with Jonathan Allinson, loaded up all our belongings, and started the trip down to Mexico City. What started to be a 14-hour trip quickly turned into a much longer one. Instead of the normal 2-3 checkpoints we had 10, making the journey very interesting. Other than a few boxes opened, we had no trouble at any of them. About 2-3 hours from Mexico City the van started having issues with the transmission, but God saw us through all of it and we were able to slowly make it to our journey’s end. We pulled in at 12:45 am (2:45 am EST) on October 3rd.
Our First Month
The first month of being here in Mexico City has been busy! We were able to spend a week painting and setting up our apartment, with the plans of purchasing the last of the furniture and appliances we need over the next month. We also have been able to start language class with a neighbor lady; we currently have class twice a day and have seen much progress in the past few weeks. Both of us have also had the opportunity to get involved in ministry– Katye has been playing the piano for service and Josh has been able to preach and do some work around the church.
Praise
– We arrived safely in Mexico City, Mexico!
– We’ve been able to set up our apartment
– We’ve started and are making progress in the language
Prayer
– We would learn the language quickly
– Unity working in the ministry
– We would adjust well to the culture
