Dear Prayer Partners,
We have arrived safely in Mexico City! We pulled in about 12:45 AM Mexico time (2:45 AM Eastern.) We cannot praise the Lord enough for His many blessings throughout the trip. When we arrived to the boarder, only by the grace of God did we make it through without them pulling everything out of the van or charging us a fee!! The boarder patrol agents asked us a bunch of questions and after about 10 minutes, and a little persuading, they allowed us to enter with our belongings. We had planned for 2-3 checkpoints throughout the day but for some reason yesterday there were 10 different checkpoints! At each one, they would pull us to the side, ask us questions, look inside the van, maybe pull 2-3 boxes out and go through them, but eventually they would allow us to pass without charging anything.
Around 9:30 PM we started having transmission issues with the van and the rest of the night we drove very slow with only 2nd and 4th gear. We are so excited to be here and to unpack and start learning the language. Thank you all so much for your prayers over the last few days. I had many people e-mail and text me saying they are praying for us and that was a huge encouragement. There will be more updates in our next scheduled prayer letter for September/October.
